What is sciatica?

Injury to the sciatic nerve and its branches results in pain, numbness or weakness that may extend from the buttock down to the back and side aspect of the leg and the side aspect of the foot. We can injure the sciatic nerve through a variety of ways – such as a herniated disc, dislocated hip or pressure on the uterus during pregnancy.
